What is Evolution?

In the Creation Seminar, Dr. Kent Hovind explains in great detail how evolution is defined.  He has done about 100 debates on the subject and says this is the best way to win the debate.  Simply define what evolution is.

The word ‘evolution’ actually has six different meanings; only one of which is scientific.  There is Cosmic Evolution, Chemical Evolution, Stellar and Planetary Evolution, Organic Evolution, Macro-Evolution, and finally Micro-Evolution.

Sceince is defined as what we can see, study, test, and demonstrate.

The first 5 meanings to the word ‘evolution’ are not scientific at all.  As Kent Hoivnd explains, Cosmic Evolution (the origin of time, space, and matter) cannot be seen, tested or demonstrated.  It is therefore not science.  It is instead, simply a belief.  There is no way anyone can know for a fact what occurred billions of years ago.  There is just no way of observing such a thing.

It’s the same thing with Chemical Evolution, which is the origin of higher elements from hydrogen.  The Big Bang was supposed to produce hydrogen, (according to the theory), and maybe some helium.  This does not explain how we get all of the other elements in the periodic table.  The fusion in stars is sometimes used to explain this.  However, you cannot fuse past Iron (Fe).  Also this creates another problem.  Which one came first?  The stars or the elements?  Because you have to have the stars to make the elements and also the elements to make the stars.  Huge chicken and egg problem here.

Stellar and Planetary Evolution is the origin of the stars and the planets.  It is a fact that no one has ever seen a star form.  Scientists do not even know how stars form.

Then there is Organic Evolution.  The origin of life.  No one knows how life could get started from non-living material.

Macro-Evolution is the changing from one kind of animal into another kind of animal.  This too, has never been observed.  A dog is always going to produce another dog…not a different kind of animal.  The dog, the wolf, the coyote, etc. all have a common ancestor.  And they are still the same kind of animal.  This is exactly what the bible says.  Animals will bring forth after their kind…not species.

Finally we come to Micro-Evolution which means variations within the kinds.  This is the only type of ‘evolution’ that has ever been observed.  This is simply the variations that we see such as long or short haired, different color hair, different sizes etc.

In summary, the first five meanings of the word evolution are not scientific at all.  As Kent Hovind likes to say, these views are simply religious views.  You can believe in these different types of evolution, however they are not a part of science at all.

Who Is Kent Hovind?

Dr. Kent Hovind

Dr. Kent Hovind

Dr. Kent Hovind began his ministry, Creation Science Evangelism, in 1989.  Since then it has become one of the most influential ministries that focuses on the creation and evolution subjects.  Dr. Hovind is considered, by far, to be one of the leading authorities on ‘Science and the Bible’.  He has done seminars all over the world teaching about the Biblical account of Creation.  He refutes evolution’s claims and holds the Bible as being an absolute authority.  He teaches that the Bible is literally true from the first verse in Genesis all the way to the last verse in Revelation.

Since 1990, Kent Hovind and his ministry have offered a cash reward (now $250,000) for any empirical evidence (scientific proof) for evolution.  This reward is still unclaimed to this day.  This demonstrates, quite obviously, that evolution is not a scientific fact as many claim.

Kent Hovind – Creation / Evolution

The creation / evolution debate seems to be more heated now than it has ever been in history.  Dr. Kent Hovind is a phenomenal speaker on the topic of creation science.  Since 1990 he has offered a cash reward for any empirical evidence for evolution.  The unclaimed reward is $250,000.

Now if evolution were a scientific fact, this reward would have been claimed many years ago.  This shows that evolution is not a scientific fact at all.  Kent Hovind suggests that evolution is simply a religion in the same way that believing in the biblical account of creation is a religion.  Everyone has the same evidence to look at.  However, they look at it in two totally different ways.

Kent Hovind suggests that some people look at the world in amazement of how a Big Bang could have created everything out of nothing.  He goes on to say that other people look at the world in amazement of its incredible design.  If there is an incredible design, there has to be a Designer.

The ‘four great questions of life’ are asked by every major religion around the world today.  They are: ‘Who am I?’, ‘Where did I come from?’, ‘Why am I here?’, and ‘Where am I going when I die?’.  The way in which someone answers these four questions is determined entirely by their worldview.  If evolution were true we would be nothing important and when we die we would simply go to the grave and be recycled into a tree or a plant.  If creation is true, there is meaning to life.  This means that God created the world, He owns it, and He makes the rules for us to live by.  So we had better figure out who God is and obey what He says.

In summary, Dr. Kent Hovind is a highly knowledgeable speaker on creation science.  I highly recommend checking out his videos.  His creation seminar covers topics such as:  The Age of the Earth, The Garden of Eden, Dinosaurs and the Bible, Lies in the Textbooks, and much more.  All are loaded with highly valuable information.
